Pig Out with the Presbyterians

We have an annual BBQ fundraiser and bake sale in October.  The whole church comes together to cook the pork butts and chicken, make slaw and beans, and fellowship together. Through this fundraiser, we support a number of local missions listed below.

Thornwell Home for Children

is a non-profit organization supported by the Presbyterian Church (USA). The home provides care for children in difficult family situations, ranging from toddlers to young adults. The campus spans 35 acres and includes a working farm and 13 residential cottages. During the course of the year members of the church provide outings for particular groups to events in the area. Also an annual “breakfast & pool party” takes place at the church and later at a member’s home.

BIMA

The mission of BIMA is to assist in meeting basic emergency needs of individuals and families in Anderson County. Belton Interfaith Ministries Association (BIMA) was started by a few churches in Belton in the 1990’s. The goal was to have a central place for people in need to go and find help. Today more that 20 churches have joined together to support this ministry.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels of Anderson County prepares and delivers approximately 420 hot meals each weekday to citizens of Anderson County who are not capable of preparing meals for themselves. By providing this service, Meals on Wheels assists the homebound elderly and disabled in maintaining their health, independence, and quality of life. Nutrition is extremely important in maintaining good health and Meals on Wheels provides 1/3 of the daily nutritional requirements for participants. Many would not be able to stay in their own homes without the assistance provided by the agency and its many volunteers.

Shalom House Ministries

Shalom House Ministries provides holistic recovery for women addicted to alcohol and drugs.

Shalom Center is a drug and alcohol addiction treatment center where women may stay for up to six months while undergoing treatment.

Women needing additional support for long-term recovery step into the Shalom House. The House is a safe, supportive environment that provides recovering addicts with a place to transition back into society for up to one year.
